While the overall storyline is still slowly inching forward, I can vaguely see where it’s headed and I’m interested enough to continue on with the series. The plot thickened considerably and Sydney was given more character depth, making her a semi-tolerable protagonist. Both of those things made The Golden Lily seem like Vampire Academy #8 instead of Bloodlines #2 (no complaint here). $ Available at The Book Depository (paperback), and AudibleĤ ★ Aud iobook⎮This installment was better than the first on two grounds: more action and more Dimitri. Also, points deducted for a lack of Dimitri.

To me, that series seems like the backbone of this one. However, I’m not sure I would still be reading this series if I weren’t already a fan of Vampire Academy. I couldn’t say I loved it, but I enjoyed reading it. On the bright side, Sydney is now much more tolerable (since Adrian is the problem). It only bothered me a little while reading, but in retrospect, I’m having a hard time viewing this relationship as “healthy”. There are times when Adrian comes off as not understanding that “No means no” and gets rewarded for it. It feels extremely forced, underdeveloped, and frankly, problematic. Although, I’m still not completely satisfied with the romance. This series is shaping up to be more of a sprint than a marathon and I’m okay with that now that I know what to expect. There are bursts of action scattered throughout, but it always seems to return to that same leisurely pace in between them. $ Available at The Book Depository (paperback), and AudibleĤ ★ Audi obook⎮By the time I made it to this installment, I was beginning to get used to the leisurely pace of the series. However, my biggest complaint about this particular audiobook is the mysterious disappearance of Adrian’s accent… ♣︎ Narration Review: I enjoyed the new dual narration style and thought it added a lot to the overall audiobook experience. I will be starting the next one immediately! This is the best installment in the series thus far. This cliffhanger ending almost makes up for the slow pace and lack of action in the other books. Although, I did stop what I was doing towards the end because it got so exciting. Some audiobooks require a lot more concentration on the listener’s part and aren’t a good fit for multitasking. I was easily able to play this audiobook during my daily activities without much interference to either. This entire series is incredibly easy to read and doesn’t require much effort to keep up with the plot. □ Thursday Thoughts & Opinions: Authors As NarratorsĤ.5 ★ Audiobook⎮I feel like I zoomed through this book.✏️ Wednesday Resource Review: TuneIn Premium.Top 10 Tuesday: Books I Want Converted to Audio.Chasing the Bus: 8 Ways to Catch Up on Your 2016 Challenge.
